FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –February 9, 2009 OTC Elite Set To Continue Season At Husky Classic/Tyson Invitational Eugene, Oregon – The Oregon Track Club Elite will once again be splitting its squad this weekend. Some athletes will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the prestigious Tyson Invitational, while the majority of the team will return to Seattle for the Husky Classic. This weekend's competitions should provide ample opportunity for the team to qualify athletes for the USA Indoor Championships coming up later this month. On Friday night in Fayetteville, 2008 Olympic Trials 800 Meter Champion, Nick Symmonds, will race with fellow OTC Elite teammate Matt Scherer, as they both try to post qualifying marks in the 800 meters. Symmonds is coming off a win at the Boston Indoor Games in the 1,000 meters last weekend. Scherer last competed in Seattle two weeks ago, placing third in the 800 meters. In Seattle, at the Husky Classic, OTC Elite will be represented in a couple of events. In the 800 meters, several athletes will be looking to improve their times in anticipation of the Indoor Championships. Mark Wieczorek, who finished second in the 800 meters at the Washington Invitational two weeks ago, will be joined by Kevin Hicks and Brandon Shaw. Russell Brown will open his indoor season at the Husky Classic in the Mile. Brown, who represented the USA at the 2008 World Indoor Championships last March, will look to get his qualifying mark. Don Sage will also run the mile in Seattle, and is looking to improve upon his 4:05 mile from two weeks ago.
