Husky Classic Condensed To Single Day to Avoid Worst of Incoming Winter Weather

By Adam Kopet

Paul Merca reports the Husky Classic will be condensed from a two-day meet down to a single-day meet to accommodate incoming winter weather.

Seattle and much of the Pacific Northwest are bracing for incoming snow this weekend, with northwest Washington potentially being hit the hardest. Snow is expected to develop Friday afternoon with large snow totals expected Saturday.

Washington officials are currently reworking the heat sheets and finding a way for all the athletes to compete in a single-day format that will be complete by 4 p.m. PST. The University of Washington campus in Seattle is suspending academic operations at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The meet is expected to get underway at 9 a.m. Meet officials will monitor weather conditions and make decisions is further schedule changes are needed Friday.
