Husky Classic Results

SEATTLE, Wash. -- David Elliott ran a 3:57.68 in the mile at the Husky Classic Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor, becoming the 461st U.S. miler to accomplish the feat in track and field history -- as well as the 59th U.S. miler to do so in the state of Washington. The local Washingtonian's time is a school record and also the third-fastest time in Mountain West history.

But perhaps more impressive was Allie Ostrander in the 3,000m. The freshman ran an 8:54.27 in the 3,000m, giving her another Mountain West record in the process. Her time is the third-fastest oversize track 3,000m time in indoor collegiate history, and regardless of track size it's the 10th-fastest in indoor collegiate history.

This is the second time in a three-week span where she has made a splash in the national record book, as her 5,000m time (15:21.85) from two weeks ago at the UW Invitational is also the third-fastest oversize track time in collegiate indoor history. She has the fastest 3,000m and 5,000m times from this season, and is virtually guaranteed a spot in both events at the Indoor Track and Field National Championships. Both Elliott and Ostrander won their races with their career days.

Andrew Rafla moved up a spot in the school record book after running a 7:57.98 in the 3,000m, giving him the No. 2 time in school history. He placed 13th in what was a stacked field.
