The top sections of the distance events feature top athletes from BYU, Northern Arizona, Stanford and host Washington at this weekend's Husky Classic at Dempsey Indoor.

The men's 3,000 meters will provide an opportunity for some of the top runners in the country a chance to nail down an NCAA qualifying position.

NAU's Drew Bosley, Theo Quax and Colin Sahlman will face Stanford's Ky Robinson and Cole Sprout, Gonzaga's Wil Smith and Portland's Matt Strangio among others.

Bosley was second in the 3,000 meters and third in the 5,000 at last year's NCAA Indoor Championships.

Aidan Troutner, Lucas Bons and Joey Nokes are among the five that BYU has entered in the men's 5,000 meters. Stanford's Lex Young and Colorado's Austin Vancil are also on the list.

The women's 3,000 meters is also loaded, with Oregon State's Kaylee Mitchell, Stanford's Amy Bunnage, Colorado's Ella Baran and BYU's Riley Chamberlain are among the top entries.

In the women's mile, unattached pros Julia Heymach, Izzy Bott-Thornton and Jenn Randall are due to race in the top section against BYU's Carmen Alder, Sadie Sargent, Lexy Halladay-Lowry and Carlee Hansen. Portland's Laura Pellicoro, Columbia's Nicole Vanasse, Colorado State's Anna Petr and Washington duo Sophie O'Sullivan and Chloe Foerster are also in the field.

O'Sullivan won last year's Husky Classic mile in 4:33.24.

The women's 5,000 meters includes three members of the Northern Arizona team: Ruby Smee, Gracelyn Larkin and Ali Upshaw. Stanford is sending five to the starting line, including Lucy Jenks and Sophia Kennedy. Gonzaga's Rosina Machu and UTEP's Joyce Kemboi are also among the top of the entries.

Annie Kunz, runner-up in the USATF Indoor Combined Events Championships, is entered in the long jump, shot put, 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles.

An all-prep men's 1,000 includes Owen Powell, Josiah Tostenson and Cruize Corvin.

Tripp Piperi, fifth at the USATF Outdoor Championships last summer in the men's shot put, is the top entry in that event.
