Four Men Go Under 7:40 At Husky Indoor Classic; Lexy Halladay-Lowry Leads 1-2-3 Finish For BYU In 8:51

Stanford's Ky Robinson dug deep over the final 100 meters to get around Northern Arizona's Aaron Las Heras on the final curve at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle and ran an NCAA-leading time of 7:36.69 on Friday in the 3,000 meters at the Washington Indoor Husky Classic. 

It's the second-fastest time in collegiate history, fastest on an oversized track, a Stanford record and a facility record. 

And he needed all of it to get away from Las Heras, who stripped nearly 10 seconds from his personal best and finished second in 7:37.26 -- faster than teammate Nico Young has run this year and No. 2 on the NCAA list. 

Matt Strangio broke the Portland Pilots record in third with 7:39.02 and Theo Quax of NAU was fourth in 7:39.85. 

All four ran faster than the facility record broken by Luke Houser on Jan. 13 at the UW Indoor Preview (7:40.40).

Twenty men in the field ran under 8 minutes. 

The women's race was no less compelling, with Lexy Halladay-Lowry holding off her teammate Riley Chamberlain, 8:51.00 to 8:51.21, to take the victory 

A third BYU Cougar, Sadie Sargent, was third in 8:54.12. Stanford freshman Amy Bunnage was fourth 8:54.88. 

Halladay-Lowry's time was eighth-fastest mark in the country this year. 

Another BYU sweep came in the men's 5,000 meters, where James Corrigan (13:30.67) and Joey Nokes (13:31.30) ran together and went 1-2. 

Canadian Briana Scott won the women's 5,000 meters in 15:23.76. Stanford's Lucy Jenks was the top collegian, third, in 15:33.98. 

Washington's Jayden White threw a personal best 74-5 (22.69m) to win the men's weight throw and move up to eighth on the NCAA list. 

Beatrice Asomaning of Washington won the women's weight throw with 69-10 (21.30m). 

Jacob Englar, competing unattached, won the men's pole vault with 18-1.25 (5.52m). 

Multi athlete Annie Kunz (Free People Movement) got her weekend started with a victory in the 60-meter hurdles, running 8.27 seconds. 

Trevontay Smith of Washington jumped 48-8.25 (14.84m) to win the men's triple jump. 

Caitlin Simmons from Eastern Washington won the women's triple jump with 41-2.25 (12.55m). 

Hawaii's Lilian Turban won the high jump with a clearance at 6-0.50 (1.84m). The Rainbow Warriors also got a victory from Alyssa Mae Antolin, who won the women's 200 meters in 24.11 seconds.
